The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has announced the allocation of $2 million in funding to support Biologically Integrated Farming Systems (BIFS). The initiative aims to promote farming practices that use biological processes and natural resources, rather than relying solely on chemical inputs.

According to the CDFA, this funding will be used to help farmers implement integrated pest management strategies, enhance soil health, and improve biodiversity on their farms. These efforts are intended to reduce environmental impacts while maintaining productivity.

Karen Ross, Secretary at the California Department of Food and Agriculture, stated: “The BIFS program is a vital investment in our agricultural future. By supporting innovative approaches that integrate biology into farming systems, we are helping farmers address challenges while protecting our natural resources.”

This latest round of funding continues CDFA’s ongoing commitment to sustainable agriculture in California.
