Camila Quintana Del Carpio has joined the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) as the new Forest Advisor for Shasta, Siskiyou, and Trinity Counties. She started in September and will be based at the Shasta County Cooperative Extension office in Redding.
Quintana Del Carpio is a Registered Professional Forester (RPF #3192) and a licensed Pest Control Advisor (PCA). She brings seven years of forestry experience in California to her new role. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry and Environmental Science from UC Berkeley and recently completed a Master of Forest Resources at the University of Georgia with an emphasis on forest business.
Her professional background includes work in both industrial and consulting forestry roles throughout Northern California. After graduating from UC Berkeley in 2018, she gained field experience through timber marking, watercourse flagging, and carbon cruising. Later, she managed a 168,000-acre reforestation program. In 2022, she became both an RPF and PCA, focusing on reforestation efforts, forest health initiatives, and collaborative projects.
Quintana Del Carpio is involved with organizations such as the Forest Vegetation Management Conference and the California Forest Pest Council. Her leadership roles have included fundraising activities and chairing an annual in-woods tour. As a first-generation immigrant who speaks Spanish, she aims to foster inclusive connections within California’s forestry workforce.
She stated that she looks forward to “working with forest landowners, professional foresters, agencies, and community members interested in forest and natural resource management across the region.”
