Organic agriculture was featured in a CBS news segment during Earth Month, highlighting the Courage to Grow collaboration between Burgeon Beer, the band Rebelution, and the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) Foundation. The initiative centers on a commemorative craft beer made with organic hops, with proceeds going to support organic farmers through the CCOF Foundation.

The CBS feature brought attention to how partnerships between artists and businesses can create meaningful support for sustainable agriculture. Organic farmers use regenerative practices such as cover cropping, mulching, and rotational grazing. These methods help improve soil health, conserve water resources, and strengthen farm resilience while producing quality crops. The national spotlight aims to increase public understanding of organic farming’s value and recognize the efforts of those working in this field.

“We are proud and grateful that Burgeon Beer and Rebelution have chosen to benefit the CCOF Foundation and the farmers we serve through the sales of this commemorative beer, made with organic ingredients,” said Kelly Damewood.

Courage to Grow is not just a craft beer release; it serves as a fundraising tool for programs run by the CCOF Foundation. The foundation provides funding opportunities, education programs, and mentorship for organic producers across California.

Since its inception in 2014, the CCOF Foundation has awarded over $7.6 million in grants. It has supported more than 34,000 professionals through over 500 professional development events and facilitated mentoring that helped transition more than 191,000 acres into certified organic farmland.

Courage to Grow is now available at Burgeon Beer locations throughout San Diego County. Each purchase contributes directly toward supporting educational initiatives for current and future generations of organic farmers.
