CCOF, Inc. announced on Mar. 17 that it has been awarded a $100,000 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Local Food Promotion Program, which is part of the broader Local Agriculture Market Program.
The funding aims to help CCOF promote and strengthen local food systems in 12 counties across California, Texas, and North Carolina where residents have limited access to fresh, locally or regionally grown food. The project seeks to connect consumers in low-income areas with certified organic farms and food businesses nearby.
According to CCOF, the Limited Access Local Food Advertising Campaigns will use geotargeted and data-driven digital marketing strategies to highlight certified organic local food businesses and farms. The organization said these campaigns are designed to increase consumer awareness, boost demand for local organic foods, and drive direct-to-consumer sales for producers in targeted regions.
CCOF plans to launch both digital and print advertising campaigns starting in summer 2026. The group will monitor performance and provide quarterly reports through the end of the grant period in 2027. Success will be measured by outcomes such as increased sales for local organic producers and more consumers discovering fresh food options within their communities.
The organization estimates that by the end of the project it will reach over 310,000 consumers with information about local organic food choices and facilitate hundreds of new business transactions for farmers and producers. This grant is one of 37 projects receiving nearly $11.1 million from LFPP across 24 states and territories.
