Jaki Hsieh Wojan has been named Chief Information Officer for UC Agriculture and Natural Resources, effective March 1, according to a Mar. 10 announcement from the organization.

The appointment is significant as UC Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) continues to enhance its technology infrastructure to support its mission of delivering science-based practices across California. The organization applies University of California expertise to communities throughout the state through research and outreach initiatives, offering knowledge that aims to improve well-being and economic opportunities, according to the official website.

Wojan joined UC ANR as Chief Information Security Officer in 2022, later serving as Deputy CIO in 2024 and Interim CIO in 2025. She brings nearly two decades of information technology experience from the private sector, along with an M.S. degree in Computer Information Systems from Boston University and a B.A. in East Asian Studies from Union College. Kathy Eftekhari, Interim Associate Vice President of Administrative Services, said: “We are excited for the vision and expertise she brings as we continue to enhance our technology infrastructure in support of UC ANR’s mission delivery. We look forward to partnering with Jaki and her team as they help guide our IT strategy and services in the years ahead.”

UC ANR operates offices in all 58 California counties along with nine Research and Extension Centers that serve as living laboratories across diverse ecosystems, according to the official website. The organization is affiliated with the University of California system and has provided creative resources in nutrition, food networks, youth education, farming practices, environmental conservation, and wildfire protection for more than a century.

Glenda Humiston serves as vice president of UC Agriculture and Natural Resources, according to the official website.

The appointment of Wojan comes at a time when technological leadership is increasingly important for organizations focused on research-driven community support. As UC ANR continues its work statewide—maintaining local offices and research centers—it will rely on strategic IT guidance to further its outreach efforts.
