The California State Board of Food and Agriculture will discuss water issues, including the Sites Reservoir project and groundwater management, at its meeting on March 3. The session is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) headquarters in Sacramento.
Board members are set to receive updates on the Sites Reservoir initiative, which aims to increase water storage capacity in Northern California, as well as ongoing efforts in sustainable groundwater management across the state.
“California’s food producers continue to face significant challenges related to water availability,” said CDFA Secretary Karen Ross. “This board meeting provides an important opportunity for stakeholders to hear about current projects and policies that impact our agricultural communities.”
The agenda also includes discussions with representatives from state agencies, local water districts, and farming organizations. According to Ross: “Collaboration between public agencies and the agricultural sector is essential as we work toward long-term solutions for water sustainability.”
