Tanimura & Antle announced the official opening of La Mesa Ridge, a new agricultural employee housing community, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Yuma, Arizona on Mar. 9. The event marked a significant step in the company’s efforts to provide modern and secure housing for its workforce.

The development of La Mesa Ridge is important as it addresses both employee needs and local housing challenges. By centralizing accommodations for up to 968 workers—including domestic, seasonal, and H-2A employees—the project aims to improve operational efficiency while reducing traffic and transportation impacts in the Yuma area.

“This project represents an important investment in our people,” said Brian Antle, Executive Vice President of Sales. “When we opened Spreckels Crossing, we set out to do something that hadn’t been done before. La Mesa Ridge carries that momentum forward, reinforcing our belief that long-term success starts with taking care of the people who make our work possible.”

La Mesa Ridge builds on Tanimura & Antle’s earlier experience with Spreckels Crossing in Salinas, California—described as the region’s first purpose-built agricultural employee housing community developed by an agricultural company. Lessons from that pilot influenced the design and scale of this new facility. Phase 1 includes eight residential buildings with 121 fully furnished suites featuring two bedrooms and two bathrooms each, along with amenities such as fitness rooms, recreation spaces, laundry facilities, basketball courts, and covered outdoor areas. The gated community is located next to company-provided transportation services.

The City of Yuma partnered closely with Tanimura & Antle throughout development to ensure compliance with local standards and codes. While Avila Construction Company led construction efforts, most subcontractors were based locally in Yuma or elsewhere in Arizona.

Construction began in March 2024; the first buildings were ready for the 2025 growing season. Full completion of Phase 1 is expected by April 2026. With this opening, Tanimura & Antle continues its approach to workforce housing through planning and investment.
