UC Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) has announced that its temporary internal hiring prioritization process, which was put in place after the loss of SNAP-Ed funding, will end at the close of December 2025. The organization plans to return to its standard open recruitment requirements beginning January 1, 2026.
Recruitments posted on or before December 31, 2025, will continue under the current temporary process until they are completed. After this date, all new recruitments will follow UC ANR’s usual open and competitive practices for state-funded organizations. Internal candidates are still encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their qualifications and how well they match the needs of each position.
The internal prioritization process includes reviewing both internal and external applicants to determine if they meet minimum qualifications. “Qualified internal applicants will be interviewed before any external candidates,” according to Bethanie Brown, Executive Director of Human Resources. She added: “If an internal candidate is qualified and aligns well with the position needs, they can be hired prior to considering external applicants.” If no qualified internal applicants are found, the search continues with external candidates.
“We appreciate everyone’s adaptability during this period and remain committed to supporting staff through these organizational changes,” Brown said. Questions about specific positions or recruitment plans can be directed to humanresources@ucanr.edu.
