This winter, the Informatics and GIS (IGIS) Statewide Program at UC Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) is offering a series of training sessions aimed at enhancing data analysis skills. The IGIS group serves as UC ANR’s resource for geographic information systems (GIS) and data analysis, sharing expertise through research and workshops for the broader community.
The spring training schedule includes introductory courses such as “Introduction to ArcGIS Pro” and “Introduction to ArcGIS Online,” as well as specialized topics like “Deep Learning with Drone Imagery in ArcGIS Pro,” “Building Place-Based Decision Support Tools with Shiny for R,” and “Computing Agroclimate Metrics in R.” The program also features an annual event called DroneCamp 2026, scheduled for August 3-7 in Monterey.
Additionally, UC Love Data Week brings together participants from nearly all University of California campuses, including UC ANR, to offer online workshops on various data-related subjects. These sessions cover topics such as public health data, web scraping, using RClone for data transfer, making research software citable, creating publication-ready tables in R, publishing websites with Quarto on GitHub, and data cleaning with Python and Pandas.
Those interested can find the full list of workshops and registration details on the UC Love Data Week website.
“Each year during the week of Valentine’s Day, data wizards from almost all of the UC campuses (including UC ANR!) come together to run a series of online trainings on a wide range of topics related to data.”
