As 2025 draws to a close, Glenda Humiston, Vice President of UC Agriculture and Natural Resources, expressed gratitude to staff and partners for their work throughout the year. In a message reflecting on the past twelve months, Humiston acknowledged the challenges faced by the organization, including shifts in federal priorities, uncertainties around funding, and the closure of the CalFresh Healthy Living, UCCE program.

She stated: “You are the reason we are able to share the latest science and develop the partnerships and programs that help solve many of our most pressing challenges – in agriculture, natural resources, community health, youth development, environmental stewardship and more!”

Humiston also recognized the difficulties encountered during 2025. “I recognize that this past year brought its share of volatility, anxiety and stress, caused by changes in federal priorities, funding uncertainties and the closing of our CalFresh Healthy Living, UCCE program.”

Despite these obstacles, she commended staff for their commitment. “It’s a testament to your dedication and resolve that together we continued to fulfill our mission with pride and passion. More than ever, I am deeply appreciative of – and inspired by – all you have accomplished and brought to our communities.”

Humiston encouraged everyone to reflect on their achievements over winter break. She added: “Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Festivus, the New Year or simply the spirit of the season, I wish you happy and healthy holidays filled with many warm and joyous moments with your loved ones.”

She concluded her message with thanks: “THANK YOU again, and here’s to an even better 2026!”
