UC Cooperative Extension will host a workshop on virtual fencing at the Hopland Research and Extension Center on March 2, 2026. The event aims to inform participants about virtual fencing technology, including its operation, costs, and how it compares to traditional barbed wire fencing.
Attendees will hear from staff at the Hopland Research and Extension Center (HREC) as well as a rancher from Mendocino County. The workshop will include an optional field tour where participants can observe a tower used in virtual fencing and discuss practical considerations for setting up fence boundaries. Those interested in joining the field tour are encouraged to bring their own bagged lunch.
The event is free but requires registration. It will take place from 9:00 a.m. to noon, with the afternoon field tour scheduled from 12:15 p.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m., at 4070 University Road, Hopland, California.
