The University of California has issued a reminder to its employees about workplace and constitutional rights. The communication highlights the availability of notices that inform staff about their rights, including the “California Workplace – Know Your Rights” notice and the “Survivors of Violence and Family Members of Victims Right to Leave and Accommodations” notice.
Employees are encouraged to review these documents, which can be accessed at UCnet (https://ucal.us/employmentnotices). These notices aim to help staff understand their protections and available resources.
Bethanie Brown, Executive Director of Human Services, stated: “At UC, we are deeply committed to protecting the rights and well-being of our employees. If you believe that any of your rights have been violated, support and guidance are available through your local Human Resources office, Academic Personnel Office, and Labor Relations office. Another reporting option is the University Whistleblower Hotline (or 800-403-4744), which is a confidential, secure channel for reporting suspected misconduct, with the option to remain anonymous.”
The message also outlines avenues for reporting harassment or discrimination under UC’s Anti-Discrimination Policy. Incidents may be reported through the Systemwide Office of Civil Rights’ File a Report form. Additional contacts include each location’s Local Implementation Officer or Title VI or Title VII Officer for discrimination concerns, as well as the Title IX Officer for matters related to sexual violence or harassment.
Brown added: “Thank you for your dedication, resilience and the many ways you contribute to UC every day. We appreciate you and remain committed to supporting our employees.”
