The United States Department of Agriculture announced on Mar. 25 that the Spring 2026 National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) meeting will take place from May 12 to May 14 in Omaha, Nebraska.

The NOSB is a federal advisory board that makes recommendations to the Secretary of Agriculture regarding which materials should be included or removed from the National List of Allowed and Prohibited Substances, as well as policies for organic production, handling, and processing.

During the meeting, members will discuss substances listed on the National List, consider recommendations related to organic policy and certification, and review priorities for organic research. The USDA said that prior to its meetings, the NOSB reviews written public comments and listens to oral public comments.

A detailed agenda for the event along with a registration link for those wishing to provide oral comment will be made available at a later date.

The upcoming NOSB meeting provides an opportunity for stakeholders in organic agriculture to engage with federal policy development affecting organic standards.
